6 days desert tour from Marrakech to Tangier itinerary 

 

Day 1: Marrakech - High Atlas - Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah - Ouarzazate - Dades Gorges

To start your 6-day tour from Marrakech to Tangier via Chefchaouen, your driver/guide will pick you up at your accommodation in Marrakech or the airport.

 

We'll leave Marrakech and travel on an interesting journey. We will traverse the majestic Tizin Tichka mountain and pass across the renowned High Atlas Mountains (at 2260 meters of altitude).

 

The next destination is The Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, one of the region's most recognizable historic sites. Currently a UNESCO World Heritage Site, this 17th-century Kasbah continues to serve as the setting for significant Hollywood productions.

 

After visiting the Kasbah for a while, we'll take a break for lunch in the adjacent city Ouarzazate before continuing on our journey via the Dades valley with its distinctive geological features. At a neighborhood Kasbah hotel in Dades, we'll enjoy dinner and stay the night.

 

Day 2: Dades Gorges - Todra Gorges - Merzouga Camel Trekking and Night in the Desert

The following morning, when you eat breakfast on a patio with a spectacular view, the fresh, pure air of the Dades Valley will arouse your senses.

 

We will begin our 6 days trip from Marrakech by leaving Dades towards the renowned Todra gorges. A Jurassic-era rock formation is known as the Gorges of Todra.

 

The Todra River's flowing water formed the gorges, leaving behind cliffs that reach 300 meters above the surrounding land. we will spend some time exploring this famous spot. And then, we will continue traveling via the Tinjdad palm groves, where we will have lunch.

 

After that, we will head to Merzouga. When we finally arrive there, we will embark on a camel excusion through the sand dunes before the sun is setting and you will be accompanied by local desert guides.

 

The camels will carry us to a camp that is hidden away in the depths of the sand dunes. During your journey, you will stop in the middle of the dunes to admire the sunset and snap pictures.

 

Once you arrive at the camp, you can spend the evening around a magnificent campfire, sharing stories, and enjoying good meal. Above all, you can climd the dunes to observe a brilliant sky of stars. Overnight in a desert tent.

 

Day 3: Off-road excursion to explore Merzouga area - Rissani local market

On the third day of our 6 days tour from Marrakech to Tangier, you will need to get up early in order to experience a sunrise you will never forget and try sandboarding close to the camp.

 

Enjoy a hearty and tasty breakfast before riding camels back to the village and switching the camels to a 4x4 car to discover the Sahara's hidden mysteries.

 

Today will be all about desert tour, so that you can understand more about the Moroccan Sahara. Our first visit will be at the village of Khamlia, home to renowned Gnaoua musicians for many years.

 

A live performance by the area's talented locals will be enjoyable. After that, we will visit a nomadic family,share a cup of tea with them and learn about their lifestyle and tradition.

 

We will then proceed to the village of Rissani so that we can visit the weekly farmer's market there (considered to be the biggest marketplace in the area).

 

We will return to Merzouga after a delectable lunch, where we will stay the night at a hotel nearby the sand dunes.

 

Day 4: Merzouga - Erfoud - Ziz Valley - Midelt - Azrou - Ifrane - Fes

Our journey from Merzouga to Fes will start after breakfast. Pass through Morocco's largest palm grove, Tafilalet. The 20km of road is lined with tens of thousands of palm trees.

 

This route takes us to the Ziz valley, where a river waters a palm grove after flowing down from the high Atlas. We pause here, where you can take in a stunning view of the valley and the village of Aoufous from the high vantage point.

 

We stop again in Midelt, a small town situated in the middle of the Atlas Mountains, where you can have lunch on your own and take a short break.

 

We continue through the Cedar Forest in the afternoon, and if we're lucky, we'll catch some monkeys there. Ifrane, located at 1630 meters above sea level on the northern slope of the Middle Atlas, is the next location we'll see.

 

This city has the appearance of a Swiss town because to its large avenues, perfectly clean urban development, gardens, and green spaces. We arrive in Fez at around 6 pm, move to the hotel, and then wrap up our services.

 

Day 5: Explore Fes with a local guide - Chefchaouen

On the fifth day of the 6-day trip from Marrakech, you'll start exploring Morocco's most ancient and cultural city after breakfast. You will tour the medina, or ancient city, in Fes, known as "the spiritual city of Morocco," and take in its architecture.

 

Many monuments are included on our guided tour of Fez  Such as Dar El Makhzen or Royal Palace with its brilliant mosaicked architecture & golden gates, and the Jewish Quarter (Mellah). Built in the eleventh century, the renowned Chaouwara Tanneries are the largest leather workshop in the city. Non-Muslims cannot enter the Kairaouine Mosque, which is also one of the oldest universities in the world.

 

However, you can admire the mosque courtyard from the gates. The Al-Attarine Madrassa, a religious institution with some of the most remarkable Islamic architecture, then visit the Najjarine Marble Fountain. One of Fes's most stunning theological institutions is the Bou Inania Medersa.

 

You will have enough time for lunch at a nearby Moroccan eatery. The Bab Boujloud archway can be identified by the mosaics' color-changing transition from blue on the external wall to green on the inside wall, which represents the Islamic religion's holiest color. Explore the medina's markets and streets.

 

We'll depart Fes in the evening and travel north to the charming town of Chefchaouen, where we'll stay the night in a riad.

 

Day 6: Explore Chefchaouen and drive to Tangier

For the last day of our 6 days tour from Marrakech,Following breakfast, you will discover Chefchaouen or Chaouen, also known as "the blue Pearl," a very unique and traditional Moroccan town located in northwest Morocco and encircled by the Rif Mountains.

 

It is well-known for the outstanding structures in its old town's various faded blue shades, which give off the impression of being in a tidy and refined environment. Due to a characteristic blue color that every resident uses to paint their homes, it has earned this reputation.

 

According to customs and beliefs, the color blue symbolizes the sky, which in turn brings to mind heaven and God. The city is covered in this color, which gives it an outstanding charm as well as a sense and environment of comfort, tranquility, and relaxation.

 

You will begin your tour of Chefchaouen by strolling along the blue streets, admiring the stunning blue walls, doors, windows, and spectacular side shops of the old Medina, which offer several opportunities for breathtaking photo opportunities.
